Precautions for installation of forklift batteries and forklift lithium iron phosphate batteries
Before installing the lithium iron phosphate battery pack, the open circuit voltage must be measured, and the open circuit voltage difference cannot exceed 50mV. Battery testing must be done and recorded.
Although the lithium iron phosphate battery pack undergoes charge and discharge activation on both positive and negative plates at the factory. If the installation date of the lithium iron phosphate battery pack is far from the factory date, the capacity of the lithium iron phosphate battery pack will inevitably be lost after long-term self discharge. In addition, the lithium iron phosphate battery pack is generally charged at around 60% at the factory, so it should be recharged at the beginning of installation. Moreover, due to the difference in self discharge size of individual batteries, there may be an imbalance in the terminal voltage of each battery.
Before installing the new lithium iron phosphate battery pack, it is necessary to measure the open circuit voltage and keep a record of the battery test. A false load can be used to conduct capacity tests on the battery pack at 0.1C10 (A) and 0.2C5 (A) hourly rates. This test can also be conducted without connecting to the battery management system, as long as the battery pack is connected in series. However, during the discharge process, the voltage of each battery cell must be strictly monitored. During the test, the total voltage, discharge current, and battery cell voltage of the battery must be measured and recorded every hour. In the later stage of discharge, the battery with low discharge cell voltage should be checked every 10 minutes. If one battery terminal voltage reaches 2.5V, discharge should be stopped immediately, and the actual discharged capacity of the battery should be calculated to see if it is basically consistent with the rated capacity of the battery. If it is basically consistent, it proves that the battery discharge test is qualified, and then the battery can be charged.
If the difference between the capacity released by the battery pack and the rated capacity is too large (greater than 15%) when discharged to the termination voltage, it indicates that there may be a problem with the factory capacity of the lithium-ion battery pack, and relevant manufacturers should be contacted in a timely manner for handling.
